Some changes
I want to let people know about some changes that are about to happen at Michael House. Simon's mum, Elizabeth will be moving in, into her own flat downstairs. It will mean we will have just two letting rooms, the two existing en-suite rooms.
For those who know the house, the downstairs sitting room will become Elizabeth's flat, the room at the back of the house on the first floor will become a lovely, cosy guest sitting room. The downstairs cloakroom will be turned round and open from Elizabeth's room, and will become her shower room. There will still be a guest loo upstairs.
Work will begin next week, the week beginning the 16th March, the main task being the creation of the shower room. It will be some weeks before Elizabeth will move in. An exciting new chapter for us all.
Do ask any questions you might have. We will still welcome non residents who wish to have evening meals here.

Christmas Day at Michael House
Why not spend Christmas Day this year at Michael House?
Arrive around 1pm, enjoy some mulled wine or a soft drink, sit by the fire and relax. Our four course Christmas meal will be served at around 3pm. Then, more relaxing, and a buffet meal in the evening.
Come and join our resident guests for the day, relax, be looked after.
£40.00 per person, including mulled wine/initial drink. Other drinks, individually priced. Four spaces available. Hope to see you. All vegan.
Other days around Christmas, New Year, by arrangement.

Echiums
The echiums this year are superb. They are the first we have had in flower since 2008, as all the young ones have been killed in winter frosts, until last winter, when we barely had any frost.

Trip Advisor review
This is the most recent review we have received. I do not usually post such reviews, and will not frequently do so, but was so thrilled by this, that, well, here it is:
1 review
A guest house with the wow factor 16 April 2014 new
Why the wow factor? .
Wow 1 - the aroma of our evening meal cooking when we arrived.
Wow 2. - the view from our room (room 2) over the valley towards Trebarwith Strand and out to sea.
Wow 3 - the food - from the first mouthful of mushroom, walnut and puy lentil pate on our first night to the last speck of chocolate pot on our last night we enjoyed every morsel.
Wow 4 - the loaf of freshly baked bread each morning.
Wow 5 - breakfast - home made muesli, the "Full Michael" and a selection of interesting preserves.
What can we say that hasn't already been said? - you can get a mobile phone signal! We had only just arrived when our Vodaphone started ringing.
We have passed Michael House a number of times over the years when going to Tintagel so we thought we would book a short break for ourselves and dogs to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We must echo the experiences of other reviewers. We received a warm welcome from Vanessa and Simon. Our room was very spacious with a massive bathroom. We were offered dog towels if we needed them - luckily we didn't. Vanessa's cooking is fantastic, we would recommend anyone staying B & B to try an evening meal. She is so passionate about her cooking and readily shared recipes. We stocked up with lemon and ginger marmalade, from the local farm shop, on our way home.
There is one thing that is average about Michael House - the cost. This makes it excellent value for money,
Vanessa and Simon - thank you for making our anniversary so memorable.

Michael House Vegan Guest House
I am delighted to announce, that, as from the beginning of November 2013, Michael House will be a vegan guest house. As we have not offered any dairy products this year, and all our evening meals are vegan, it only means stopping serving eggs for breakfast, but the shift feels far more fundamental than that. A final move to align our hearts with our actions.

Hartland Quay
Today we spent some time exploring Hartland Quay. So thrilled that there are still such amazing places within an hour of here that we can yet discover!
We had planned to visit Clovelly with a friend, but the weather was horrible, so we thought a sheltered garden, owned by the same family as owns Clovelly village, would be more fun. The garden is amazing, and has beautiful cliff top walks as well, and the sun soon came out.
